Sacramento Kings Host Job Fair - KTXL

If you've been looking to join a new team, the Sacramento Kings might be a good place to start.

With more than 10 vacant positions, they hosted a job fair at Power Balance Pavilion Monday afternoon, which welcomed a steady stream of job seekers throughout the day.

"It's tough," said Derek McGaskey, who waited in line with hopes of gaining a second job. "Need more time, need more hours, need more money."

"We realize that there is a lot of talent in Sacramento, and instead of just posting something online, we want to give people the opportunity to come down and illustrate their talents in person," said Phil Horn, vice president of ticket sales for the Kings.

"If you want to get your foot in the door with professional sports, this is a great opportunity to learn about the industry and find out if this is something you want long term," he said.

Most of the jobs involve sales or business development, but there's always a chance it could evolve into something bigger.

"Maybe like a waterboy or ballboy, then slip into an assistant coach job," said Nate Wilson, who also showed up in search of a job. "Never know what might happen."

Wilson just needs to check his Lakers allegiance at the door. "It's a little shifty, but it's employment, so I'll take it," he said.

While some were concerned about working for a team that may or may not be a permanent Sacramento fixture, they were willing to look past that uncertainty... at least for now.

"I know they'll stay for the season, so I'd have a job for the season," said Wilson. "If they happen to leave, then I'll find other employment."

The job fair was a one-time event at Power Balance Pavilion, but Horn invites anyone interested to apply through their website.
